Overview of Unit 1.
Unit Dates: August 20th to November 7, 2012 (First Deadline)
Unit Question: Who is part of our community and how do we find out about them?
Significant Concept: Any social system has identifiable elements that can be investigated.
Area of Interaction: Community and Service
Content:
Know: Characteristics of effective photography and caption and headline writing. Photographic conventions and what they communicate.
Understand: How to investigate and gather information about a community. How to identify effective caption writing and photography. How a yearbook might fulfill the needs of the community.
Do: Create and use a Wiki or a Google Forms to maintain a directory of contacts/clubs/teams. Blog to brainstorm ideas and themes, and to keep in communication with other team members. Communicate online with netiquette. Organize content (photos, notes for stories and captions) and back-up work on computer and website.
